Y Axis Granite Drilling for Rails

I won't blather on too long about this step now since you have probably seen enough about granite drilling, but theres no point skipping a step. The big difference here is that i have less flexibility of how these holes are drilled, since the granite can't be manipulated about since its now permanently attached to the surface plate. Somethings that I would make sure to consider on these fixed elements is that the holes and dried and cleaned out properly before applying the cement mortar. Its also harder sometimes to get the broken pieces of core out the holes. Have fun with this one.

Most of these holes drilled wiith the core compltely unbroken.

Checking the full assembly does not bind ir if there needs to be any inserts cememted off centre to aid fitting.

Well I can't say that i will miss drilling granite for a while. It was really getting quite tiresome towards the end. Especially when drilling by hand, but also withthe pillar drill. The process seemed to leave me with a bad headache. I am not sure if it was the vibration or constant straining or what but it wasn't a nice task.
